2026 for us marks a period of transformation, opening up new perspectives and opportunities. For this reason, the time has come to say goodbye to a project that has been deeply personal and incredibly dear to us – apiece – and to all of you who followed, observed, and supported this initiative along the way.
apiece began its activities in 2018 on Didžioji Street, in a vitrine space measuring just 1.5 square meters. Over the past eight years, we have grown not only beyond the scale of this space, but also beyond the geographical boundaries of gallery space and, later, Lithuania.
During eight years, we organized 53 international exhibitions. Alongside our exhibition programme, we delivered lectures, participated in conferences, and presented comprehensive overviews of Lithuania’s independent and non-institutional art spaces within an international context. In 2024, apiece became the first gallery to curate the Vilnius Gallery Weekend.
This announcement is also a note of gratitude to everyone who was part of this journey – artists, curators, collaborators, institutions, and, of course, the passersby who stopped to view the exhibitions. We deeply value the time, trust, and relationships that emerged through apiece. We would especially like to thank:
– WALL Architects, for designing and realizing the apiece architectural structure
– Vilnius City Municipality, for providing public space and its financial support
– Lithuanian Council for Culture, for its consistent and long-term support of our activities
– Other supporters: Goethe-Institut, LATGA, and Lithuanian Culture Institute
– Palanga Summer Reading Room, for providing a new context for apiece through a summer residency, where we organized three exhibitions in 2020
– Naujamiestis community, for its openness, welcoming spirit, and the opportunity to become part of the local ecosystem
We also send a big hug and our deepest thanks to:
